The 6-Step Imperial Archive

Every pair carries the heartbeat of Rajasthan’s court cobblers.

Six stages, in the order they are done: the hide is cured locally, the leather is cut to size, the upper is hand-embroidered mostly by the women of Bhinmal, and the karigar gives the pair its final form on the last.

  1. 45 Days Curing

    Preparation

    Locally cured leather

The hide is cured locally, and the leather is cut to size for the pair in Bhinmal.

    Hand-Cutting the Upper

Carved with handheld curved knives (raapi) without industrial laser cutters or stamping dies. Patterned specifically for left and right ergonomic symmetry, a Pagori atelier innovation.

    Adda Frame Zardozi & Tilla

Pure silk velvet clamped into horizontal rosewood frames. Master embroiderers attach beaten silver Salma wire, micro freshwater pearls, and French sequins needle-by-needle.

    Dual-Density Memory Layer

The upper is dipped in water to soften it, then embroidered by hand — the work called kashidakari — and the leather is hammered firm at every stage before the pair is shaped on a wooden last.

    Assembly

    Double-Welt Hand Stitching

Joined with several strands of cotton thread. The stitch goes directly through the upper and insole, allowing complete natural flex without delamination.

    Finishing

    Burnishing & Final Form

The edges are burnished and the leather given a final polish, and then the karigar who made the pair gives it its final form by hand.
